Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. The 4th summit of heads of state of Caspian littoral states has started in the Russian city of Astrakhan. President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Iran Hassan Rouhani are attending the summit, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
During the meeting, the legal status of the Caspian Sea and a number of security issues will be discussed.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov had earlier mentioned that a political statement on the legal status of the Caspian Sea would be adopted during the summit and some agreements be signed. He noted that it had been possible in the statement to reflect the provisions agreed on the delimitation of the basin.
