Russia will provide all necessary assistance to Azerbaijan and Armenia for the preparation of a peace treaty and delimitation of the border, said Denis Gonchar, director of the fourth department for CIS countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia in an interview with TASS, while talking about the regulation of Russia's Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
"We are ready to provide all kinds of assistance in the future through the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the preparation of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, as well as the organization of relevant tripartite high-level meetings on the territory of Russia. These processes, which are extremely sensitive for both sides, require the search for mutually acceptable and long-term solutions," said the Russian MFA official.
Without going into details, the Russian diplomat explained that their disclosure is not always beneficial.
Gonchar noted that preparations are currently underway for contacts between public representatives and expert circles of Azerbaijan and Armenia: "This important direction of joint efforts is intended to help the formation of an atmosphere of trust in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."
Gonchar said that tripartite inter-parliamentary dialogue can also be beneficial.
He added that the tripartite statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia remain the basis for settlement.
Denis Gonchar emphasized that the statements dated November 9-10, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022 constitute a road map for the comprehensive normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijani relations:
"At the level of the deputy prime ministers, work is being done on the opening of communications within the framework of the tripartite working group. Thus, at the 11th meeting held on December 6, issues of railway construction, development of railway communication and organization of transportation between the three countries and in the region were discussed in detail. At the same time, the representatives of Baku and Yerevan noted the positive role of Russia in efforts to unblock transport communications."
The diplomat also said that Russia and Azerbaijan are discussing the issues related to the biased presentation of media information objectively and respectfully. He clarified that this problem was one of the topics of the last talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries, Sergey Lavrov and Jeyhun Bayramov.
"We are ready to seek and find mutually acceptable solutions even in the most difficult issues," Denis Gonchar concluded.
