Azerbaijan and Türkiye are united by strong relations of friendship and brotherhood built on deep historical and cultural roots, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, APA reports.
Ali Asadov said that the historic Shusha Declaration signed by the Presidents on June 15, 2021, elevated relations to the highest level of alliance: “The personal relations and close contacts between our heads of state, Ilham Aliyev and Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, are the main factor ensuring the consistent development of our strategic partnership. Only this year, 7 mutual visits between the heads of state have taken place, and the Presidents have also met at international events organized in other countries. President Ilham Aliyev most recently visited Türkiye on June 19. The heads of state jointly participated in the opening ceremony of the ‘Azerbaijan’ quarter in Kahramanmaraş. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in turn, took part on November 8 in the Military Parade in Baku dedicated to the 5th anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War. All this once again shows that our political dialogue is at a high level.”
The Prime Minister said that Azerbaijan and Türkiye closely cooperate within international organizations: “Traditionally, we cooperate closely in international organizations and support each other. The Organization of Turkic States should be specially noted. Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are carrying out determined activities to strengthen the unity of the Turkic world and to increase the international prestige of the Organization of Turkic States. As you know, in October, the 12th Summit of the OTS took place in Gabala, and the chairmanship passed to Azerbaijan. I am confident that during our chairmanship, the organization will continue its development and further increase its prestige. By the way, this year, a new format was created within the OTS – the meeting of Heads of Government/Vice Presidents. I fondly remember my meeting with my dear brother Cevdet Bey at the first meeting held in Kyrgyzstan. Azerbaijan will host the next meeting in 2026. Taking this opportunity, I would like to invite you to Azerbaijan for this purpose as well.”
