- On November 13, Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin along with the delegation of 12 visited the northwestern region of the Republic and met with Avar and Lezgin people. Azerbaijani media regards it as Moscow’s preparation for ethnic war in Azerbaijan. How can you comment on the Russian ambassador’s meeting and in general this information?
- Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin visited Zagatala region on November 14-15. I want to note that this visit was agreed with the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Education Ministry, they were informed in advance. During the visit Vladimir Dorokhin also met with the local authorities. The ambassador was informed about the socio-economic development of the region. It was noted that the Russian language is perfectly taught in the region. The ambassadors of all countries visit the regions. We regret that Ambassador Vladimir Dorokhin’s visit is interpreted in such a way.
- The first international conference on “The problems of Lezgins, Avars living in Russia and Azerbaijan and ways of their solution” has been recently held at President Hotel, Moscow. Heads and activists of the Lezgin and Avar communities in Moscow, Armenian and pro-Armenian Russian intellectuals claimed that the rights of Lezgins and Avars are violated in Azerbaijan, they demanded autonomy for them. The representatives of Russian Presidential Administration, Foreign Ministry, Federal Migration Service and Federal Border Service attended the conference. It was decided to open Russian consulates in Gusar, Gabala and Zagatala regions, council at the Russian embassy in Azerbaijan for the rights of Lezgins and Avars. How does the Russian Foreign Ministry comment on the anti-Azerbaijan event held in Moscow?
- According to the Russian legislation, all public organizations officially registered in this country can hold events. Russian Foreign Ministry can not interfere in the events held by public organizations. As regards the views on the first international conference on “The problems of Lezgins, Avars living in Russia and Azerbaijan and ways of their solution”, we can say that the opinions expressed at the conference are the position of those public organizations. Opening of consulates of Russia in Gusar, Gabala and Zagatala regions is to be discussed and solved between the two states.
-There are reports that the new Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia has been established by the Kremlin. How would you comment on it?
- The reports that the Union of Azerbaijani Organizations in Russia has been established by the Kremlin are nothing but rumors. Russian Foreign Ministry does not want to comment on rumors.
