Lithuanian Foreign Minister: We want the European Union to take active part in the solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict

Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. Foreign Minister of Lithuania Vygaudas Ushatskas has started his visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports. The minister has today visited Heydar Aliyev’s grave in the Alley of Honors and Martyrs’ Alley.

Vygaudas Ushatskas told journalists that Azerbaijan and Lithuania would sign memorandum to strengthen political dialogue. He expressed his confidence that the memorandum would open a new page in the bilateral relations. Vygaudas Ushatskas expressed his satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s participation in the European Union’s Eastern Partnership program. The minister noted that Azerbaijan was a reliable partner on energy issue.

Foreign Minister said a group of Lithuanian businessmen had come to Baku together with him. The aim of their visit is to improve bilateral commercial relations.
“I am very glad that I have come to Azerbaijan in the year when Baku was declared Capital of Islamic Culture. Vilnius has been declared Capital of European Culture. We want to improve political, economic and cultural relations with Azerbaijan,” he said,

Noting that he supported peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Vygaudas Ushatskas said they wanted European Union to take active part in the process of solution.
“We believe that it will help improve the dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
