Azerbaijani ambassador to Venezuela Agshin Mehdiyev submits his credentials to Vice President of the country

Caracas â€“APA. Newly-appointed Azerbaijani ambassador to Venezuela Aghshin Mehdiyev submitted his credentials submitted copy of his credentials to deputy foreign minister of Venezuela Renaldo Bolivar, APA US bureau reports. The diplomats discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and development of contractual basis for cooperation in the fields of common interests. The ambassador submitted the draft agreements to Venezuelan side and discussed possibility of its signing.

Later on presentation of credentials was held at the office of Vice President of Venezuela Ramon Alonzo Carrizalez. Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Egypt, Philippines, Jamaica, Columbia, Ghana, Kenya and other countries submitted their credentials. Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev delivered greetings of Azerbaijani President to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. The ambassador emphasized the importance of development of Azerbaijani-Venezuelan relations and said both countries had enough potential for that and there were large cooperation spheres. Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev said as a result of Armeniaâ€™s military aggression against Azerbaijan, 20 percent of the countryâ€™s territory was occupied and more than one million Azerbaijani people turned into refugees and displaced persons. He said our country advocated for solution to the conflict within the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of international cooperation within the principles of UN Charter.
The Venezuelan Vice President congratulated the newly-appointed ambassadors and wished them successes in their activity. He specially emphasized the appointment of first ambassador of Azerbaijan to Venezuela and quoting Agshin Mehdiyev said that his country also guided by same principles in its policy.
