Elmar Mammadyarov receives Mike Hancock, Vice-Chairman of Political Affairs Committee of the Assembly of WEU

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has received the delegation headed by Mike Hancock, Vice-Chairman of Political Affairs Committee of the Assembly of WEU, the Press Service of Foreign Ministry told APA. The members of the delegation said the visit aimed at organizing visit of Western European Union Assembly to Azerbaijan on September 14-17 and noted that the organization planned to inform the general audience about the problems of the Caspian region countries and prepare report on the theme â€œCaspian Sea and security of Europeâ€ to contribute to the solution of these problems. The visitors took interest in the energy security in the Caspian basin, protracted conflicts, and prospects of Azerbaijanâ€™s foreign policy.
Elmar Mammadyarov welcomed the organizationâ€™s interest in the region and underlined the necessity of attaching importance to the security of energy corridors and solution of the protracted conflicts. The minister noted that for the world community territorial integrity and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders were the main principles. The minister said the conflict with Armenia was the main problem of Azerbaijan, the country was interested in faithful, kind neighborly relations and underlined the importance of such relations for the regionâ€™s security and stability. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
