Baku. Elnur Mammadli–APA. World Azerbaijanis Congress (WAC) led by Sabir Rustamkhanli and Firudin Parviznian issued a statement against the arrest of activists for the rights of Iranian Azerbaijanis. WAC Press Service told APA it was said in the statement that Sajjad Radmehr, Faraz Zehtab, Aydin Khajei, Daryush and Shahrukh Hatami, Vadud Asadi, Peyman Gulami, Ali Abdullahzadeh, Human Rights defender Hamid Valai and Gulam Najafi had been arrested illegally and faced with the pressures and tortures. WAC leaders said tortures resulted with the death in some cases. “Tabriz national activist Afshin Urfan Khosroshahi was killed in his office. He was strangled after the tortures. He faced with threats from Ettelaat for many times before the death. Another activist Farhad Mohsini Negaristani was killed by the electric shock in Ettelaat”.
Excellent Azerbaijani students were flunked out from Tehran and Tabriz universities. WAC demanded Iranian government to stop pressures on Azerbaijanis, to release arrested activists, to leave groundless accusations against the students and called on the world community, international organizations and law defending bodies to work together for protection of Human Rights and freedoms.
