Istanbul –APA. Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan confirmed the information about secret meeting between Turkish and Armenian diplomats on July 8. At the joint conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchohr Mottaki arriving in Ankara for one-day visit, Ali Babacan said that the meeting was directed by his instruction. “This is a meeting of high-ranking diplomats of the Turkish and Armenian foreign ministries according to my instruction. Such meetings are held from time to time. The main goal is to keep open a way of dialogue”. Babacan said that there were differences between the two countries in estimation of events that took place in 1915. “However, we believe that all the problems existing between the two countries like other problems in the region should be settled via talks and we will decide to develop the negotiations or not after the reaction of opposite side”. Chief of Department of Armenian Studies of the Turkish Institute of History Kemal Chichek commenting the secret meeting to APA Turkish bureau confirmed this fact. “We meet with Armenians in European cities, in Oslo, in Salzburg within the various initiatives. We proposed to establish joint commission for investigation of historic events, but have not received positive respond yet. We can’t achieve the opening Dashnak archives in Boston. No results were achieved at these meetings so far. Let our Azerbaijani brothers not to worry. Any step against our brothers is out of the question at the meetings held by the Foreign Ministry and our institute as well. There is no reason to concern. It is appearance of cornered Armenians before our fair demands”.
