European Commission Vice-President: â€œFreedom of internet means that everyone can share an opinion freely on Internetâ€

The government of Azerbaijan has signed partnership agreement with OSCE, European Union and Council of Europe and undertaken voluntary commitmentsâ€, said Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda at the press conference in Baku, APA reports.

She said that her visit to Azerbaijan started with the meeting with President of Azerbaijan: â€œWe held long and open discussions on internet. The President noted that there was free internet in Azerbaijan. Our position is that freedom of internet means that everyone can share an opinion freely on Internet. This freedom must be continued after these opinions are expressed.â€

Kroes said that she wanted to visit a prison, but the chief of the prison didnâ€™t allow her.

The Vice President of the European Commission underlined that she supported the position of Azerbaijan on extension of Internet and Internet TV.
