European Commission Vice-President: â€œFreedom of internet means that everyone can share an opinion freely on Internetâ€

Baku. Anakhanim Hidayatova â€“ APA. â€œWe have cooperation with Azerbaijan on the issues of common interest. The government of Azerbaijan signed orders with OSCE, European Union and Council of Europe and undertook voluntary commitmentsâ€, said Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda at the press conference in Baku.

She said that her visit to Azerbaijan started with a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan: â€œWe along with the President held long and open discussions. The President noted that there was free internet in Azerbaijan and freedom of internet meant that everyone can share an opinion freely on Internet. This freedom must be continued after these opinions.â€

Kroes said that she wanted to visit a prison, but the chief of the prison didnâ€™t allow her.

The Vice President of the European Commission underlined that she supported the position of Azerbaijan on extension of Internet and Internet TV.
