Solemn ceremony on 55th anniversary of Azerbaijan Society of America held in US

Baku â€“ APA. A reception on the 55th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA) functioning in New-York City and the 21st anniversary of the independence of Azerbaijan were organized at the famous â€œEmpire State Buildingâ€. The permanent mission of Azerbaijan to the UN told APA that diplomats of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, representatives of various state, non-governmental and business organizations functioning in New York, CBS News and the other media representatives, representatives of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Jewish communities and students of Columbia and New-York universities attended the event.

The anthems of Azerbaijan and the US were sounded at the beginning of the event, following this, ASA External Relations Director Emin Hasanov gave brief information about the organizationâ€™s history and the works done by the organization up to now. Besides it, former congressman Michael McMahon, ASA president Tomris Azeri, Permanent representative of Azerbaijan to the UN, Ambassador Agshin Mehdiyev, General Director of Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC) Javid Huseynov, Azerbaijan`s Consul General in Istanbul Hasan Zeynalov, Director of Federation of Turkish American Associations Ali Cinar and Deputy Chief of Azerbaijan State Committee on Diaspora Javanshir Valiyev made speeches at the event.
