Islam Karimov: “There has never been contradiction or misunderstanding between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan”

Baku – APA. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov held a meeting with the participation of the countries’ delegations, APA reports. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence that the visit of Uzbekistan’s President will produce good results in terms of opening new opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in different spheres: " Our cooperation will be closer and more active. Uzbekistan is a friendly and fraternal country for us. We are glad that our relations are strengthening basing on friendship, equal right partnership, mutual support. We always feel this support while standing for each other in the discussion of all issues at international organizations”.
Aliyev also stressed the importance of efficiently using the potential of the economic cooperation between the states.
Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov said that the geopolitical changes happening not only in the region, but also beyond its borders make such meetings necessary: “Azerbaijan is a strategic partner for Uzbekistan. The similarities between our people are the main factor that brings our countries much closer. Azerbaijan has always been close to us, first of all for the sake of our common interests. This partnership is important not only from the aspect of present-day interests, but also for solution of complex issues regarding our historical past, closeness of our people in terms of language, mentality. it is very important for us that there has never been contradiction, misunderstanding between our countries."
