Khojaly victims commemorated in Mexico Cityâ€™s ancient church

Baku â€“ APA. The memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide was commemorated in Tlakskoake church belonging to XVI century, which operates in the area of Tlakskoake-Khojaly square in Mexico.

The Azerbaijani embassy in Mexico told APA that at first, Sunday praying was held on August in the church after reconstruction works and opening ceremony of the Khojaly genocide monument. The first religious rite was dedicated to the victims of the Khojaly genocide on the initiative of the Catholic Church.

At first, head of the church Eduardo Lozano informed about the Khojaly genocide. He noted that the people of Azerbaijan are mainly Muslim, but at the same time it respectably approaches to the representatives of all religions and said that the military aggression and genocide was committed against Azerbaijan 20 years ago. The head of the church noted that regardless of religion and belief, all people are brother and said that the Khojaly and other genocides are unacceptable and as a result peace and justice ideas of God will win. Lazano said that the Khojaly monument is the symbol of justice and peace and the people of Mexico will always commemorate the victims of the genocide.

Then prayers for the sake of the memory of the Khojaly victims and peace in the world were read.

The opening of the Khojaly genocide monument and Tlakskoake-Khojaly Square were held in Mexico City on August 22, 2012.
