Richard Morningstar to arrive in Azerbaijan after August 25

Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova â€“ APA. The meeting with new US ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar was held in the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce in Washington. APA reports quoting â€œVoice of Americaâ€ that the ambassador delivered a speech on energy cooperation and security in the Caspian region. Morningstar, who is considered the architect of US regional energy policy, said that his country implements the balanced policy with the region: â€œToday the US regional energy policy is more complicated and multifacetedâ€.

Touching upon unresolved issues Morningstar spoke about the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He noted that the solution of the conflict meets interests of both sides.

Morningstar stressed that he was in Azerbaijan more than 20 times and stressed that â€œSouth Energy Corridorâ€, especially resources of Nabucco gas pipeline play a very important role for Azerbaijan from the point of view of energy diversification. New ambassador will arrive in Azerbaijan after August 25.

Morningstar was appointed to the post of special representative of U.S. Secretary of State on energy issues in Eurasia in 2009. He was the ambassador of the USA in European Union during 1999-2001.
