Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev receives FIDE president

Baku â€“ APA. On August 15, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilumzhinov. According to APA, stressing the successful cooperation between the World Chess Federation and relevant organizations of Azerbaijan, Ilumzhinov noted that among 177 countries-members of his organization, Azerbaijan was the first country that adopted the State Program on development of chess in the country and successfully implemented it.

He also delivered FIDE proposals to hold Chess Olympic Games 2016 in Baku.

President Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the achievements of Azerbaijani chess players in the international tournaments and said that the successive purposeful measures were carried out for the development of sport, including chess in the country. Head of State welcomed the proposals to hold Chess Olympic Games 2016 in Baku.

President Aliyev said he believed in further development of cooperation between the World Chess Federation and relevant organizations of Azerbaijan.
