Azerbaijani President: “The attempt to link Islam with terror was a great sin and crimeâ€
Drawing attention to the increasing of number of embassies of the Islamic states in Azerbaijan year by year, Head of State said that we have a close cooperation with the Islamic countries: “Currently the bilateral cooperation format covers all the spheres and it’s always wideningâ€.
Underlining the support of Islamic countries to Azerbaijan in the election of the member of UN Security Council, Head of State said that Baku awaits support by the Islamic countries to the solution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
President of Azerbaijan said that the first country in the world that recognized the Khojaly genocide was exactly the Islamic country – Pakistan. Expressing gratitude to the leadership of Pakistan, President of Azerbaijan said that OSCE sent a fact-finding commission to the occupied area and they witnessed that the mosques and other holy monuments were destroyed by Armenians.
The Head of State said that Azerbaijan attached great importance to the Islamic solidarity and declaration of Baku as a capital of the Islamic culture is a great support of the Islamic world to our country. “The Islamic values are dear and native for us. Our national values are based on the Islamic valuesâ€, said President Aliyev and stressed the significance of solidarity among the Islamic countries.
Azerbaijani President wished peace to all Muslim countries and underlined that Baku supported the position of the Arab League on the processes ongoing in the Middle East.
President also emphasized the importance of joint struggle against rumor spread in the world about Islam and noted that the attempt to link Islam with terror was a great sin and crime.
Then the President asked the ambassadors and heads of diplomatic representations of the Muslim countries in Azerbaijan to convey congratulations to heads of states and governments of their countries on occasion of Ramadan Holiday.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic, who spoke on behalf of ambassadors and heads of diplomatic representations of Muslim countries, expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the meeting.
The ambassador congratulated the Head of State on oncoming Ramadan Holiday and spoke about the importance of this month for the Islamic world. He spoke about Azerbaijan’s economic development, successful continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s political course today, the country’s election to UN Security Council.
The ambassador said that Eurovision Song Contest was held in Baku at high level and underlined the successful hosting of the international mugham festivals. The diplomat highly assessed the Islamic world’s support of Azerbaijan concerning the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
No one from Iranian embassy to Azerbaijan participated in the reception.
