French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs issues statement on death of writer Rafig Tagi

Baku – APA. Spokesperson for the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs issued statement on death of writer Rafig Tagi. French embassy in Azerbaijan told APA that the statement says: “We were deeply saddened upon hearing news on death of Azerbaijani writer and journalist Rafig Tagi, who was cruelly knifed in one of the streets of Baku on November 19.

Rafig Tagi was known by everybody with the quality and seriousness of his researches. By his death, one voice which is listened and respected in his county and abroad, political and journalism circles.

French expresses its solidarity to the family, relatives and counterparts of the deceased”.

Spokesperson for the Ministry urged the Azerbaijani officials to use all opportunities for finding and bringing the committers and their patrons to responsibility.

France reminds that as all over the world, the security of journalists and freedom of media form the fundamental principles of the democracy in Azerbaijan.

Tagi, who was knifed by unknown person on November 19, died at the hospital on November 23.
