Improvement achieved in talks on legal status of Caspian Sea

Baku. Habil Suleymanzadeh – APA. The 30th meeting of the special working group on the coordination of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has ended in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, APA reports quoting Novosti-Kazaxstan agency. Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Sarybay said improvement was achieved on a number of issues, which had not been solved completely.
“We are observing noticeable progress,” he said.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said views were exchanged on the convention.
“We had an opportunity to compare our positions and approaches on some issues,” he said.

Special Representative of the Iranian President for Caspian Affairs Mehdi Akhundzadeh spoke optimistically.
“We have reached the final point. We have moved forward,” he said.

Russia’s Ambassador-at-Large Alexander Golovin also said the sides were nearing the final result.
