Ogtay Asadov meets with vice president of European Commission

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov has today met with Vice President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas. Asadov said cooperation with the European Union is one of the priorities of the Azerbaijanâ€™s foreign policy, press service of the Parliament told APA. â€œWe are looking forward for further extension of cooperation with the European Commission. Earlier our relations were in the level of assistances by the European Union, but now our relations have a character of effective cooperationâ€.

Speaker Asadov focused attention on the fact that today Azerbaijan is integrating into the European institutions and is an initiator and active participant of the realization of global projects. He said Azerbaijan has a serious problem like Nagorno Karabakh conflict. â€œPendency in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict threatens energy and transport corridors, which are important for Europe and hampers the integration processesâ€.

Siim Kallas spoke about the work to be done for the realization of the transport corridors and said Azerbaijan had a special place in these projects. They also discussed the ways of solution of the regional conflicts, development of inter-parliamentary relations, the role of our country in freight traffic activity and other issues.
