According to APA, in a press conference held after the meeting, Lavrov said Moscow was interested in strength of energy cooperation with the prospective energy security projects, which caused mutual interests like the North Stream gas pipeline launched on November 8, 2011. He said the North Stream opened a new page in the Russia-EU cooperation.
Lavrov and Ashton discussed the construction of Trans-Caspian gas pipeline as well. Lavrov noted that the discussions on this issue will be continued until the option acceptable for all sides is found. Catherine Ashton focused attention on ecological safety of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline.
