Istanbul to host international workshop entitled â€œUN sanctions on Iran â€“ Impact on the regionâ€

Baku â€“ APA. On November 16-18, the International Institute for Strategic Studies IISS will be holding a workshop entitled â€œUN Sanctions on Iran â€“ Impact on the Regionâ€ in Istanbul, Turkey. The Center of the Strategic Studies under President of Azerbaijan told APA that the meeting will focus on how well the UN sanctions on Iran are being implemented and the difficulties that regional governments and commercial entities have experienced in this regard. It will also raise awareness of the â€˜best practicesâ€™ for concerned industries, organizations and states, and discuss the measures that must be taken in order to comply with the sanctions and the risks associated with infringing them.

Expert from SAM Reshad Karimov will make a presentation that will outline Azerbaijanâ€™s policies in terms of implementation of the sanctions. Other regional participants will examine the need of further understand the obligations that countries face in doing business with Iran and practical suggestions related to sanctions.
