“It would be better to give Azerbaijan the status of a privileged partner at the European institutions and the European Union statesâ€, G. Piranov, the President of Bulgaria
Azerbaijan’s works for the recent years open new opportunities and perspectives for “Southern Gas Corridorâ€. Bulgaria has specific position and positive role within these relations. In fact, we want to develop our relations with Azerbaijan more than Azerbaijan-EU relations. These relations have long history. We work hard in this sphere. During press conference, we remembered gas agreement of 1 billion cubic meters. At the same time, we want this project, connection between Bulgaria and Greece, to be realized. During the negotiations we noted that a big company as SOCAR can work in the territory of Bulgaria.
In my opinion, there are good opportunities for our cooperation. This is part of big diversifying work. We just should succeed an achievement to show Europe. After that we will achieve broader results and suggest new ideas for the Southern Gas Corridor. We discussed the particular issues that may become elements of our economic cooperation.
Bulgaria and Azerbaijan in their regions play important role, I would say even a leading role for intercultural dialogue. We also noted that the mutual cultural activities in the Balkan region can be carried out not only with the Black Sea region, but also with the countries of the Caspian Sea region. I will be very glad, if other countries in this region also join to the idea and work on it. As, we can demonstrate that there is a history and it is important for the future of our regions. We can do this work together.
With regard to Europe, I appreciate the intensifying dialogue between Azerbaijan and the European Union. This dialogue is conducted within the framework of the "Eastern Partnership".
I noted that it would be better to give Azerbaijan the status of a privileged partner at the European institutions and the European Union states. Since this is such a framework in which not only energy security dialogue is possible, but also dialogue can be extended and can be taken to other areas - transport, the economy, in a broader sense – to the areas of security. Since, we are facing the same challenges. This is important for the European Union and for neighbor partner states. Therefore, we should strive to work together with more modern methods. I am absolutely confident that in the near future after the European Union solve its internal problems, it will find a more accurate and acceptable solutionsâ€, said G Piranov.
