Baku – APA. Russian and Jewish communities of Azerbaijan sent a letter to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Director General of Russian State Television and Radio Company Oleg Dobrodeev concerning the Vesti FM radio program’s insults against Azerbaijan. The letter signed by members of the Azerbaijani Parliament Mikhail Zabelin (on behalf of Russian community) and Yevda Abramov (on behalf of Jewish community) reads:

“On November 1, Vesti FM broadcast a radio program “Utro s Vladimirom Solovyovim. Polniy contact” which voiced insults against Azerbaijan Republic and Azerbaijani people. Solovyov violated all norms of journalist ethics and said “even one drop of Armenian blood to them is a subject of wild, inhuman, I would even say, beastly, hatred”. He used such offensive and unacceptable expressions against Azerbaijanis like “bazaar people devastating Russia”, “who have come here in great numbers and are splitting on Russian culture” “not caring about Russian culture”, “now feeling entitled to openly discriminate against Russian citizens in the territory of the Russian Federation”. The program presenter called Azerbaijan as a racist country and called on all Russian citizens to boycott Azerbaijanis and their business. Solovyov is a member of Russian Jewish Congress. He even dared to compare Azerbaijanis’ attitude toward Armenians with the Holocaust, tragedy of Jewish people. We, Russian and Jewish communities of Azerbaijan express protest against the Solovyov’s behavior and insults against multinational Azerbaijan. We consider that it is very great disrespect to accuse the country, where tens of peoples live in peace and friendly atmosphere, of racism. Undoubtedly such provocations are directed toward the worsening of peaceful neighborhood relations between the two countries. The troublesome fact is that open extremist calls and insults directed toward the instigation of ethnic confrontation were voiced in the radio program of the large state media corporation of Russian Federation. We request you to take measures regarding the “journalist”, who insulted Azerbaijani people in a live program. We hope that the forces, who play anti-Azerbaijan cards and seed dissension between Azerbaijan and Russia, will get an appropriate response”.
