Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “Despite uncoordinated issues in the process of negotiations on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the start of work on a large peace agreement would be a signal of peace intentions of both sides”, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov said, APA reports.

Mammadyarov said he couldn’t meet with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs during their recent visit to the region because he was on a foreign trip. Minister noted that the negotiations on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict are continued. “The negotiations are going on and of course, no one hopes that the conflict will be settled within a day. The negotiations should move step-by-step. We many times offered to the co-chairs to start the talks on a large peace agreement”.

Touching upon the co-chairs’ statement on incidents in the contact line between the Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, Mammadyarov said: “A child was killed as a result of ceasefire violation by the Armenians. The people living near the contact line in Azerbaijan are in danger. Azerbaijan’s position is that to solve the problem, at first, Armenian troops must be withdrawn from the occupied territories. If Armenian troops are withdrawn, there will be no need in snipers and the children will not be killed. We told the co-chairs about it many times. At least, Armenian troops must be withdrawn from the occupied seven regions of Azerbaijan in the first phase”.
