President Ilham Aliyev: “Azerbaijan and Turkey were always together and Azerbaijan shares its UN seat with Turkey”

Izmir Mais Alizadeh – APA. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the groundbreaking ceremony of a new oil-chemistry enterprise constructed in Aliaga region of Turkey’s Izmir province by Petkim shareholders - SOCAR and Turcas. Azerbaijani President offered condolences to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Edrdogan on the earthquake in Van province of Turkey. Head of State said the government of Azerbaijan deemed it duty to help Turkey immediately after the quake. “Not only government, but every Azerbaijani citizen is ready to help the quake-hit region. We are one nation, two states”.

Speaking about the development of Azerbaijan in recent years, President Aliyev spoke about the development in Turkey too and called it as the achievement of Erdogan’s government.

Azerbaijani President spoke about the large projects founded in recent years – Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzrum gas pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and etc.

The Head of State regarded it as positive that Turkey accepted the proposal of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic in privatization of Petkim company.
“We are pleased to make investments here. We are glad that foundation of the petrochemical enterprise and Vocational School named after Heydar Aliyev are being laid today. We are following the paths of two great leaders – Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Heydar Aliyev. It will lead us to successful future,” he said.

Azerbaijani President expressed gratitude to Turkish Prime Minister for his congratulation on the election of Azerbaijan as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“We share our seat at the UN with Turkey. We were always together and will act there together,” he said.
