Matthew Bryza: “We continue our contacts with the Azerbaijani government towards the protection of energy infrastructure at the Caspian Sea”

He said that both sides exchange experience towards determination of possible risks at the sea and its elimination if it is needed: “Bilateral exchange of experience is directed to protection of energy infrastructures at the sea from all possible risks. US has a great experience in this sphere. All possible risks can have a natural character. For example, a cyclone or technological risk like at the Gulf of Mexico. One can not exclude the terror risk”.

Bryza underlined that the question was not carrying out of military operation in the Caspian Sea with the participation of the US or accommodation of US troops in the region. According to him, the essence of the consultations is consisting of joint assessment of possible risks.
