Name of Azerbaijani head of UN mission in Mazari-Sharif, Afghanistan made public

This is 38-year-old Namig Heydarov, APA reports.

Namig Heydarov graduated from the Azerbaijan Foreign Languages University, Boston University and Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He is expert on international development and administration. He was working for the Norwayâ€™s Refugee Council and other international humanitarian organizations. He was awarded by the governments of Pakistan and Tajikistan many times for his assistance during the natural disasters and other emergency situations. Recently he took part in UN operations in the Central Asia and Afghanistan.

UN mission stopped its activity after the protest action in Mazari-Sharif against burning the Holy Qurâ€™an by the American priest. UN missionâ€™s building was attacked during the action and seven UN workers were killed. Head of the mission, Russian diplomat Pavel Yershov survived by chance, but he will not continue its activity in the mission.

The UN mission re-started its activity on July 29.
