Baku-APA. A senior Palestinian official Friday denied reports saying that the Palestinians have resumed the peace negotiations with Israel, APA reports quoting Xinhua .

The Israeli reports on peace talks "are not true at all," Nabil Abu Rdeineh, spokesman of the Palestinian presidency said in a statement carried by the state Wafa news agency.

"Any talks with Israel must be based on the borders of 1967, comprehensive cessation of settlement and to accept the international legitimacy," said Abu Rdeineh.

The Palestinians suspended the direct peace talks with Israel after Israel refused to halt settlement construction in October last year, one month after the talks were launched in Washington.

"As the talks are still stalled and Israel still rejects serious negotiations amid commitment to full cessation of settlement and withdrawing back to the 1967 borders, the Palestinians will approach the United Nations in September," said Abu Rdeineh.

The Palestinians in September will approach the UN General Assembly and the Security Council to demand an international recognition of a full UN membership of a Palestinian state on 1967 borders.

Earlier on Friday, the Israeli Haaretz Daily reported that Israeli President Shimon Peres is holding intensive secret talks with the Palestinians in a bid to resume the peace talks and avoid approaching the UN.
