Israeli Knesset member: “I strongly believe that Palestinians will achieve their goal to have many countries in the world to recognize an independent Palestinian stateâ€

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian Authority has sought support on five continents for its request before the UN to recognize a Palestinian state in September. According to Abbas, so far 122 countries have recognized the Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders.
It is the Palestinians right to request a full membership of the state of Palestine in the UN, the Knesset member said. Today Palestine has an observer status in the UN.
UN General Assembly will consider the issue of recognition of Palestine in September. This decision was passed because Israel-Palestinian peace process was ceased in March as Israel refused to stop extension of construction work in the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem. The United States urge Palestine not to make unilateral steps and threaten it to use right of veto during the General Assembly voting.
“America should understand that using the veto against the Palestinian state’s project would impede progress of the peace process, which is originally stalled due to Israeli procrastination. I urge the American administration to think rationally and logically. America by continuing its blind support to Israel will endanger its interest in the Middle East and causing to have a very bad reputationâ€, said Sarsour.
Regarding the impact of revolutions in the Arab countries on the peace process and recognition of the Palestinian State, Sarsour said that all in the development at the Middle East is in favor of peace.
“The Palestinians s and the vast majority of the Arab world want to have peace with Israel that did not exploit all the opportunities to sing peace treaties with many Arab countries. Israel always refused and rejected all Arabs proposals to solve the conflict and stop the bloodshed and live in peace. In my opinion, I like to emphasize that recognition the Palestinians State would not hurt the peace process and would instead strengthen efforts to achieve a two-state solution. I should say that Palestinians have no so many means in struggling against the irreconcilable position of Israel. I hope that US and Europe will play a fair role in the peace processâ€.
