Romanian President arrives in Azerbaijan for official visit

He was welcomed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagoub Eyyubov.Then Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev welcomed his Romanian counterpart at an official welcome ceremony. The heads of states heard the report of the honor guard chief. National anthems of the two countries were played at the ceremony. Azerbaijani state and government officials were introduced to President Basescu and Romanian delegation was introduced to President Aliyev.
Azerbaijani and Romanian presidents will also have official talks to be attended by official delegations of the two countries, after which a ceremony will be held for the signing of official documents. President Basescu will be awarded the Azerbaijani Heydar Aliyev Order, while President Aliyev will be awarded Romania’s Faithful Service in rank of Grand Cross, a special order awarded to heads of states, who were previously decorated with Romania’s Star National Order in rank of Collar.

On Tuesday, Basescu will have talks with Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oktay Asadov. The Romanian delegation accompanying Basescu in Azerbaijan includes state secretary with the Romanian Foreign Ministry Doru Costea and Economy Ministry Ion Ariton.
