Ukraineâ€™s outgoing ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk: â€œOur relations with Russia pass into pragmatic levelâ€

â€œI am looking forward to be good will ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan and of Azerbaijan to Ukraineâ€, said the ambassador and gave details about the political-economic situation in his country.

Klimchuk said today 50 days have passed since President Victor Yanukovichâ€™s inauguration. He spoke about the Ukirainian presidentâ€™s visits abroad and his meeting with the Russian counterpart Dmitriy Medvedev in Kharkov on Wednesday. â€œOur relations with Russia pass into the pragmatic level. We are searching for contacts useful for both countries. The documents signed during the meeting are very important for our countries. Extension of term of lease for Russian Black Sea Navy and Sevastopol bases, as well as reducing gas price 30 percent are very important issues for Ukraine. Gas price decline will make Ukraineâ€™s metallurgy and chemical industry more competitive in the world market. We can restore our positions in China, India, Argentina, USA ad Europeâ€.

Boris Klimchuk said Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations had strategic character and trade turnover was $US261 million 600 thousand within two months, which exceeds the last year index for four times.

The diplomat said Volin region signed cooperation agreement with Ganja City of Azerbaijan and the regionâ€™s large delegation would visit Baku and Ganja later in September. He said there were opportunities to establish Volin-Ganja joint ventures in the fields of agriculture, furniture design and production of exhibition equipment and etc.
