Azerbaijani Consulate General in Los Angeles hosts workshop on South Caucasus and Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan

Baku â€“ APA. The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles and the University of Southern California organized a workshop on the South Caucasus and Foreign Policy of Azerbaijan. Consul General Elin Suleymanov, professor of the International Relations School at the University of Southern California Robert English informed the post-graduates and students about the foreign and energy policy of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijanâ€™s foreign policy is based on pragmatic standards and contributing to the national interests of the country, said the speakers. They said they were hopeful for Obamaâ€™s administration to be more active in the South Caucasus and emphasized that double standards of the US foreign policy damaged the countryâ€™s image in the world.

The Consul General mentioned the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and underlined the importance of more activeness by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries. At request of the students, Azerbaijanâ€™s approach to the Russia-Georgia tensions was explained and it was emphasized that both Russia and Georgia are ally countries to Azerbaijan, which makes independent decision regarding its relations with the friendly countries.
