Ambassador Anamammad Mammadov: “Turkmenistan is ready to join Nabucco”

Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Turkmen ambassador to Azerbaijan Anamammad Mammadov held a press conference highlighting energy policy of his country. The ambassador said Turkmenistan supported diversification of routes for transportation of energy resources to the world market, APA reports. The diplomat reminded about the opening of second branch of gas pipeline from Dovlatabad gas field on January 6 attended by the presidents of Turkmenistan and Iran. The pipeline will pump 20 billion cubic meters natural gas from Turkmenistan to Iran per year.

Mammadov also reminded about Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which was put in operation in December 2009 and will supply China with 40 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas per year. He said Turkmenistan also restored gas export to Russia in the beginning of the year and would export 30 billion cubic meters to this country per year. Reporting about the energy resources of his country, the ambassador said Turkmen geologists discovered more than one thousand oil and gas fields and only South Yeloten-Osman field had 14 trillion cubic meters of gas resources.

The ambassador said Turkmenistan was ready to join the Nabucco project. He also mentioned the opening of direct flights between Baku and Ashgabat and this issue was negotiated currently.
