Azerbaijan assesses proposal to increase peacekeepers in Afghanistan

Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. “At the Brussels meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers the member and partner states were offered to increase the number of the peacekeepers in Afghanistan. This issue is being assessed at present,” Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov said, APA reports. According to Deputy Minister, Azerbaijan wants stability to be established in Afghanistan, official Baku intends to offer assistances to Afghanistan in this field.
“Azerbaijan has offered assistances to Afghanistan in mine clearing, national security, defense, border protection, the opposite side approved the proposals. Azerbaijani specialists will train the security forces of Afghanistan in the abovementioned fields,” he said.

Araz Azimov noted that Afghan sappers attend courses in Azerbaijan, such courses will continue.
“Such courses will be organized both in Azerbaijan and Afghanistan,” he said.
