Araz Azimov: â€œThe opposite side should know that Azerbaijan is against the playing for time and wants effective approach of the discussionsâ€

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva â€“ APA. â€œThe basic principles are discussed by the presidents, but not foreign ministers, in this phase. The foreign ministers are only doing preparation work for the negotiation process. The OSCE Minsk Group is expected to visit the region in near future and to submit its new proposals to the sidesâ€, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov told journalists, APA reports. He said elaboration of the new proposals for the conflict settlement was a progress in a certain sense. â€œThe negotiations over the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict are going on for a long time. If the progress is an easy work, it would be reached long time ago. It is difficult to expect the progress instead of every little step. But every step is a progress of its own accordâ€.

Touching upon the dynamics of the Azerbaijan-Armenia negotiations Araz Azimov said the presidents met for several times a year. â€œI think this is dynamic and sustainability of the meetings enables us to say that this is useful process. Bur the opposite side should know that Azerbaijan is against the playing for time and wants effective approach of the discussionsâ€.

In response to the question about new proposals bringing by the con-chairs during their next visit to the region, Araz Azimov said: â€œThe steps done are clear, but these steps have a principle of succession. The people expelled from their homeland should return, the communications should be restored and the lands should be liberated. The cooperation can not be established before the return of population to their homeland. If there is no cooperation, there is no peace as well. No any status issue could be discussed if there is no peaceâ€.
