Event on 60th anniversary of Council of Europe held in Ganja

Ganja. Aykhan Huseynov â€“ APA. An event on the 60th anniversary of the Council of Europe has been held in Ganja today, APAâ€™s west bureau reports. The representatives of the NGOs functioning in Ganja and young people attended the event organized by the Information Office of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan and Council of Support for Nongovernmental Organizations under Azerbaijani President. The participants were informed about the history of the Council of Europe, Azerbaijanâ€™s full membership since 2001 and priorities of the organization. Executive director of the Information Office of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan Ilgar Ibrahimli said the aim of the event is to give detailed information about the Council of Europe.
â€œWe hope after the event the people in Azerbaijani regions will be as informed about the Council of Europe, its activity and standards as the people in the capital are,â€ he said.
The events in Azerbaijani regions on the 60th anniversary of the Council of Europe started in Shirvan. A conference will be held on this occasion in Baku late in December.
