President of Azerbaijan meets with NATO Secretary General

The Secretary General said NATO-Azerbaijan cooperation was successfully developed and NATO attached great importance to this cooperation, press service of the President told APA. Scheffer underlined the special role of Azerbaijan in the region and said NATO saw Azerbaijan as a partner country with an important role in the region. He said the President Ilham Aliyevâ€™s visit would contribute to the extension of NATO-Azerbaijan relations. The NATO Secretary General highly appreciated the participation of Azerbaijan in the anti-terror operations and its active part in the Individual Partnership Action Plan.

President Aliyev emphasized the development of NATO-Azerbaijan relations and said Azerbaijan was one of the active participants of NATO programs and events. Emphasizing the active participation of Azerbaijan in the Individual Partnership Action Plan, President Aliyev characterized the Azerbaijan-NATO relations as a part of the Azerbaijanâ€™s integration into the Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The head of state of Azerbaijan said he was hopeful that the relations would be developed further.

The President of Azerbaijan addressed the permanent representatives and ambassadors of the NATO member countries at the North Atlantic Council in Brussels on Wednesday.
