Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC) issued a statement with regard to U.S. President Barack Obama’s calling the events of April 24, 1915 “great disasterâ€, ICYF-DC told APA. The statement says that U.S. President’s sharing the position of those staining the history of Muslim peoples, especially Ottoman civilization, ignoring the humanitarian tragedies of Muslims living in the area of the Organization of Islamic Conference may have negative influence on the delicate dialogue established with the Muslim world.
In the letter “Message of Muslim youth to President Barack Obama†ICYF-DC offered the U.S. President to establish international experts’ commission to investigate the events of 1915 impartially. They offer the commission to investigate within the framework of program “Commemoration Day of victims of humanitarian tragedies in OIC countriesâ€, killings by Armenian servicemen of Turks and Kurds in Deir Yassin (Palestine), civilians in Van (Turkey), Setif and Guelma (Algeria), Murataga-Sandallar and Khojaly (Azerbaijan).
“ICYF-DC would regard such an initiative of the US President as an unbiased approach to the humanitarian tragedies of Muslims from various nations in the 20th century.â€
The statement has been posted on www.icyf-dc.org and will be delivered to the White House through diplomatic channels together with the list of supporters within two months. The campaigns “Justice to Khojalyâ€, “Realities of 1915†and “Recognize genocide in Bosnia†are expected to participate in the signature collection campaign.
ICYF said they would intensify their efforts for the initiative to receive political support on the level of OIC.
