Azerbaijan human rights defenders to meet with rapporteur on political prisoners

Azerbaijani human rights defenders invited to the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will meet on Tuesday with rapporteur on political prisoners Christopher Strasser, human rights defender Chingiz Ganizadeh told APA European bureau in Strasbourg. He said they would submit to the rapporteur the list of 28 people they considered as political prisoner.

Ganizadeh acknowledged that there was discord over the persons included in the list. â€œI was against one-two persons, particularly those who were arrested together with Ali Insanov. We will submit to the rapporteur the single list, but next time I will insist to remove the names of several people from the listâ€.

Ganizadeh said main discords were over the Leila Yunusâ€™s list of 66 people because there were the names of some people they didnâ€™t accept as political prisoner. â€œIt is unacceptable for us. There are 38 people more than our list and it is not enough to come to the agreementâ€.
