Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva – APA. “I know the problem of using the uncontrolled areas of Azerbaijan as transit for drug trafficking. I talked about that with the government officials of Azerbaijan, but I had no concrete meeting with the Armenian government on this issue”, said James Callaghan, Representative of UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) for Central Asia. He said UNODC supported UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions on this issue.

Callaghan said Afghanistan had 95 percent of world opium production. According to him, Azerbaijan doesn’t suffer so much from the drug trafficking as the neighbors of Afghanistan. “However Azerbaijan can also suffer and we have to pay attention to that”.
