Diego Maradona Jr has insisted that people who compare his father with Lionel Messi “don't understand football” after Argentina's 1:2 shock defeat to Saudi Arabia, APA reports citing Dailymail.

Diego Armando Maradona, named after his late father, assessed it as a big shock.

He also touched on the comparison between Maradona and the current captain of the national team, Lionel Messi: “The comparison between Messi and my dad is made by those who don't see and don't understand football. We are talking about two different planets. But I don't want to throw the cross at Lionel right away. I am devastated by the defeat of Argentina. I find it hard to believe that all this really happened. Losing to Saudi Arabia is crazy. But losing even to weaker opponents happens in football”.
