Barcelona's defender Gerard Pique announced his retirement on Thursday after a stellar career, saying that Saturday's La Liga match against Almeria will be his last at Camp Nou, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"I wanted to tell you that I’ve decided the moment has come to end this journey," he said, promising that he will continue to support the team and pass on the love for the club to his son. "There’s no other team after Barca...and sooner or later, I’ll be back," Pique concluded.
Pique joined Barcelona 25 years ago when he was 10. He won three Champions League titles with the club and was part of Spain's golden generation that triumphed at the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012.
