The excise rate for cigarettes containing tobacco and cigarettes containing tobacco substitutes has been increased from 43.0 to 46.5 manats per 1,000 pieces, it was reflected in the Cabinet of Ministers' amendments to the "Excise rates for excisable goods imported into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan", APA reports.
The excise rate has been increased from 12.9 to 14 manats per 1,000 units of tobacco and tobacco products consumed as a result of heating.
The excise rate on tobacco and tobacco substitutes for hookahs, other smoking tobacco, except technical tobacco, "homogenized" or "reconstituted" tobacco, as well as chewing or snuff tobacco will be 30 manats per 1 kg.
The excise rate on disposable electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and their substitutes is set at 0.25 manat.
This Decision shall enter into force 30 (thirty) days after its publication.
At the same time, changes were made to the "Commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, rates of import customs duties and rates of export customs duties." According to the decision, which will be valid until December 31, 2024, a customs duty of $1 per kilogram of tobacco substitutes will be imposed on imported hookahs. At the same time, imported cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and their substitutes will be subject to a customs duty of 15% per unit.
