Brussels. Alexander Kean – APA. EU leaders on Friday expressed support fpr a €200 billion ($265 billion) ackle an economic recession, said British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Friday..
APA’s correspondent reports that the fiscal stimulus will be worth around 1.5 percent of the EU’s gross domestic product (GDP), including "judicious reductions in tax" and increases in public spending, Brown said.
Several European nations are sliding into a recession — and the 15 nations that share the euro have already seen two quarters of negative growth since the spring’s second quarter.
In a statement EU leaders said they were confident it would "make a decisive contribution to the European economy’s rapid return to the path of growth and job creation."
