Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economic Development sets up internal control body

The Ministry of Economic Development confirmed the information which APA-Economics learned from a source in the government.
Late last month Azerbaijani President appointed Deputy Minister of Taxes Shahin Mustafayev as Minister of Economic Development.
The new minister recently told reporters that Azerbaijan’s President was dissatisfied with the activities of some subordinate bodies under the Ministry of Economic Development.
“Heads of these subordinate bodies were dismissed. Further inspection is under way. It is not the final measure yet. There is a need for some reforms in the structure of the ministry. It is necessary to set up a department for internal control over the subordinate bodies in the ministry,” he told reporters.
In early November after the appointment, heads of three subordinate bodies - Khalig Mammadov, Executive Director of the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Assistance; Elchin Zeynalov, Chief of the Antimonopoly Service; and Aslan Jafarov Acting Chief of the State Office for the Control of Consumer Market (SOCCM), were fired from their positions.
Recently, Shirzad Abdullayev, deputy chairman of law department of the National Bank of Azerbaijan, has been appointed as deputy chairman of the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Assistance, and Zahid Isayev, chairman of financial-economic department at State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), has been appointed as deputy chief of the SOCCM.
