Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. “Issuing of new large-size banknotes will make money turnover more effective and reduce the state expendituresâ€, said chairman of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Elman Rustamov, APA-Economics reports. He said the volume of large-size banknotes increased in the country and the world experience showed that additional large-size banknotes are issued for reducing volume of high-value banknotes and saving state expenditures.
According to Rustamov, the Central Bank watches the specific weight of banknotes in the country and makes relevant decision on that. “The economic research showed that the volume of large-size banknote turnover increased in the country after the denomination. Issuing of larger banknotes have no economic meaning, it aims only to make money turnover effective and reduce state expendituresâ€.
Azerbaijan is expected to issue banknotes with 150-, 200- and 500-nominal. Now the experts are working on the design of banknotes. The Central Bank has discussed this issue with the government and the new banknotes will be issued soon.
