‘As banks do not lend in sufficient volumes because of the European crisis, we will set up a system of financing economic development outside commercial banks this year,’ Orbán said. The government plans to expand the state-owned Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) and set up an agricultural bank as part of a strategy to provide institutional financing independently of commercial banks, he said.
