Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Asian Development Bank’s Vice President for Private Sector and Cofinancing Operations, Ms. Lakshmi Venkatachalam, concluded her two-day’s visit in Azerbaijan on 17-18 April. She exchanged views with Minister of Economic Development of Azerbaijan on the role of private sector in Azerbaijan during a meeting held on April 18. ADB’s contribution in the country in supporting private businesses and state-owned enterprises was also discussed in the meeting.
Ms. Venkatachalam also visited the ADB-cofinanced Garadagh Cement Plant project near Baku, the largest in the country, and reviewed progress in implementation of the project. She also met with development partners, industry bodies, and selected existing and prospective borrowers to discuss potential business opportunities in Azerbaijan.
Ms. Venkatachalam also visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev and the Alley of Martyrs.
