Azerbaijan-based banks get profit in February

Baku. Vahab Rzayev â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan-based commercial banksâ€™ pretax profit made AZN 18.13 mln in January-February, 2011, down AZN 40.5% compared to a year ago.

Note that, bank loss in January made AZN 1.64 mln.

CBA says the total profit with the special reserves on assets made AZN 42.59 mln, down 28.8% compared to a year ago.

Interest income made AZN 178.29 mln, interest expenditure â€“ AZN 96.51 mln, net interest profit - AZN 81.78 mln during the same period. At the same time the non-interest income stood at AZN 36.58 mln, non-interest expenditure â€“ AZN 75.66 mln. Thus, the loss on non-interest operations was AZN 39.08 mln.

Interest profit decreased by 9.4% compared to a year ago. Non-interest loss rose 29.2%, including interest expenditure rose 12.4% while interest income increased by 1.2%. Income and expenditure in non-interest operations soared 14.2% and 21.5%.
